Clinical Diagnostic Evaluation
The Clinical Diagnostic Evaluation (CDE) is for licensed
professionals (physicians, physician’s assistants, nurses,
podiatrists, psychologists, MFTs, LCSWs, psychiatrists, veterinarians,
attorneys and pilots) and other individuals who need a diagnostic
assessment to determine whether or not they meet the DSM-IV
criteria for "Substance Dependence." The process
simultaneously assesses possible co-existing disorders.

Collateral information
to be received two business days prior to admission.
Hospital records, prior treatment records, psychiatric
records, investigation records and interview notes.
Spouse or significant other to be available for face-to-face
conjoint interview & co-dependency evaluation |
| Lodging |
Lodging is available at reduced
rates from local hotels for patients and family members
/ significant others. |
The purpose of Betty Ford Center’s Clinical Diagnostic Evaluation
is to:
- Determine whether or not the patient is manifesting signs
and symptoms of addictive disease and/or a co-occurring
psychiatric disorder.
- Assess the patient’s degree of occupational, social or
physical impairment, if any, and to evaluate his/her fitness
for duty or fitness for practice in a safety sensitive
position.
- Determine what, if any, treatment is indicated
to restore health and function to the patient.
